ELSJ Regulations on Information Management (excerpts)

(Republication and Archiving of Articles Published in EL or JELS)

Article 18: ELSJ holds the copyright of articles published in JELS and in EL ((Brief) Article、Review (Article), Notes and Discussion, Invited Article, Articles on a Specified Topic), as well as to all versions of EL articles submitted to the journal during the review process leading to publication. As a result, for republication of such copyrighted material, author(s) must obtain permission from ELSJ in writing (letter or e-mail) before they incorporate the material in their books or collected papers.
2. Permission to reproduce the published version and versions thereof submitted to EL during the evaluation process is in principle granted two years after publication in EL and one year after publication in JELS.
3. Upon republication, the fact that permission has been granted by ELSJ should be indicated together with the year of publication, the volume number, and the page numbers of the original article. If the author has corrected misprints or other errors or has added new material, he or she is required to so state explicitly in the republished version.
Article 19: When permission for republication of published material and versions thereof submitted to EL during the review process is granted, the President of ELSJ must notify the board of directors, the editorial board, and the printing-right holder, Kaitakusha.
Article 20: For registration of published material in the academic repository or electronic archives of the author’s university or other institutions (henceforth “registration”), as well as for uploading of such material onto a personal website (henceforth “uploading”), permission must be requested in writing (letter or e-mail) from ELSJ.

If the author has corrected misprints or other errors or has added new material, he or she is required to so state explicitly in the registered/uploaded version.
Article 21: When permission for registration/uploading of published material and versions thereof submitted to EL during the review process is granted, the President of ELSJ must notify the board of directors, the editorial board, and the printing-right holder, Kaitakusha.
